Thermoservers

Post by Clare80 on Thu Nov 14, 2013 4:07 pm

Just curious about thermoservers. What does everyone use/recommend. I remember posts about a container from the reject shop can anyone fill me in on thermal containers?

I have the one you get with the TMX and I honestly don't know what all the fuss is about... but I don't really have a need for it, I was told it will keep food hot for 2 hours but mine doesn't!!

I was thinking it would be handy for if I am cooking two parts of a main meal in the bellini. So I could keep the other part warm while I cooked the rest.

Shea, do you pre-heat yours? I fill mine with boiling water from the kettle and put the lid on for about 10-15 minutes before I put the food in. Though to be fair I've never kept it in there for two hours...

No I don't pre heat. Wasn't told to pre heat. I left dinner in it once when I went to go get Michael from the airport. About a hour &45 min trip. Was cold as all he'll when I got home. Will try pre heating it next time. :-)

I've got one from an Indian supply store & it does the same job but I do warm with hot water first.

I had a thermomix demo and she advised to heat the bowl first, it kept the risottos really hot, we ate it about 20 mins after making it, but I have only used it once in about 2 months :/

Beaholmes78, I use mine to cook rice in! Much quicker than fully cooking the rice in thermi then cooking the meat dish. I do a 5 min pre-cook in thermi, tip it into the thermoserver then cook the meat while the rice is finishing. I can't post a link yet, but if you google "enough rice for the whole family thermomix" you'll find it Smile
